Walter Weir
Walter Weir is the Chief Information Officer with the University of Nebraska. He is also the chair of the University's Financial System Task Force. Walter successfully led the implementation of SAP based ERP environment, Portfolio Management System, Datawarehouse, and Executive Information System for the University of Nebraska. Walter is also the Chair of the State of Nebraska Information Technology Commission Technical Panel, which has statewide responsibility for designing and implementing the State of Nebraska's computing, e-government and e-commerce infrastructure and architecture. As chair, he reports to the Lieutenant Governor. In this role, he was instrumental in the design and deployment of Network Nebraska. This is a high speed, OC48, scaleable IP based network that spans the entire state. Currently there are over 250,000 active users connected. Previously, Walter was the Associate Vice President and CIO at Fordham University in New York.

Stan Elbaum is a senior vice president with Aberdeen Group and is responsible for the development and deployment of Aberdeen's research in Planning and Advanced Analytics, with particular focus on the Business Intelligence and S&OP processes and technologies. Stan has been deeply involved in the development and implementation of BI and CPM processes and technologies in a variety of multi-national corporations in industries as diverse as consumer packaged goods, petrochemicals, high-tech, and the pulp and paper industry. As a CIO of a global Consumer Packaged Goods company, Stan also led the selection, value assessment and implementation of the full SAP R/3 suite.

In this day and age of Open Systems and Open Source development, what possible value does ERP offer? With millions of dollars already invested in ERP solutions, are the organizations stuck paying for its maintenance or are there other options? Is the ERP world expected to morph into a more acceptable form. If yes, what would and should that form be?
