Mr. Janssen is responsible for developing The Hackett Group’s core intellectual prop¬erty, including thought leadership. He works with the company’s Executive Advisory Council to understand the strategic impact of new and emerging trends on the busi¬ness functions. He also heads Hackett’s team of researchers and analysts in the US, Europe and India in the design and implementation of research studies; analysis of results; and production of resulting findings. Previously Mr. Janssen was president of Supplier Solutions for Everest Group and co-founded the Everest Research Institute. In addition, he provided strate¬gic oversight for Everest’s Outsourcing Center, the world’s largest outsourcing community and vehicle for identifying early industry trends. He was also a senior director in Gartner Group’s Strategic Sourcing practice and held numerous management positions with EDS.

George Westerman
George Westerman is a research scientist in MIT Sloan's Center for Information Systems Research and faculty chair for the course IT for the Non-IT Executive. His research and executive presentations focus on senior management challenges such as IT risk, value measurement, and innovation. His work has been published in Sloan Management Review, MIS Quarterly Executive, and IESE Insight, as well as academic journals. George's first book IT Risk: Turning Business Threats Into Competitive Advantage (Harvard Business School Press, co-authored with Richard Hunter), was named one of CIO Insight magazine's Top Ten Books of 2007. His new book The Real Business of IT: How CIOs Create and Communicate Value (also with Richard Hunter) will be published by HBS Press in September 2009. A noted speaker and workshop facilitator, George works regularly with executives to improve the business value of IT.

Chris Smith
Chris Smith serves as the Chief Information Officer for USDA with executive leadership responsibility for all USDA Information Technology Investments, Operations and Management.  Mr. Smith provides leadership for USDA's IT Architecture, IT Policy, Cyber Security Operations and the Department's operational portfolio including Network, Enterprise Data Centers, International Technology Services, and Innovations group.
Additionally, Mr. Smith served for 25 years in the Air Force and Air National Guard as a Communications Officer leading multiple tactical communications missions around the globe.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and his Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of South Florida. Mr. Smith also holds a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems Technology from George Washington University.

In order to stay focused, we have always applied benchmarks and metrics to establish a baseline and measure progress against predefined goals. Are the same benchmarks and metrics still relevant? Is everything that we want to measure, measurable? Given the fast pace and fluidity of business and IT, will measurement get easier or more difficult moving forward? What challenges and opportunities lay ahead to establish effective benchmarks for predictable growth and profitability?
