Historically, IT value has been based on IT being able to deliver on-time and on (or within) budget. Now, business has new wants! …How do IT leaders rethink IT to deliver more choice, faster speed, and greater scale? What have we changed and what should we be changing in order to deliver on these new challenges?

The change of IT prioritization

Technology has taken a more dominant role within organizations over the past decade. This new role has failed to be identified within the corporate world. Technology is still viewed as a support tool instead of a tool to help drive a company forward. If this mindset changes, IT and operations can have a closer partnership and plan the execution of innovative ideas with more proficiency.

In a recent post http://www.scheumack.com/blog/...-planning/ I state that IT leaders will need to start thinking more about the business of technology. By re-prioritizing IT and including technology in strategic planning from the beginning, technology should be able to deliver a technology blueprint for the future that will meet the demands of the organization.

Should IT still remain bureaucratic with command and control style management to be successful?
While IT wants to be in the forefront of innovation to help deliver business value, in order to produce predictable results, should it still continue to have bureaucratic decision making with command and control structure?
